Development and Alumni Coordinator

Position Description

The Development and Alumni Coordinator will develop and seek funding for FPPS’s innovative work and build visibility for programs through outreach with community members, stakeholders, and the new Portland Public Schools Alumni and Friends Network.

What You’ll Do

Development

  • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with current and new donors 
  • Secure financial support and other resources from individuals, foundations, and businesses
  • Support FPPS Executive Director and development committee to develop development strategies and plans
  • Organize fundraising, donor stewardship, and awareness building events

Alumni Relations

  • Plan, implement, and promote alumni programs, outreach, awareness-building events, and fundraisers that support Portland Public Schools’ and FPPS’s strategic plans
  • Partner with Deering, Portland, Casco Bay, Portland Adult Education and PATHS staff to plan the growth and accessibility of career networking services for students and alumni
  • Build partner relationships and attend community meetings and events with stakeholder organizations
  • Promote and advance the work of FPPS and PPS by developing/writing a series of impact stories that are featured in the PPS Alumni & Friends newsletter and website and FPPS newsletters
  • Actively engage alumni, partner organizations, representatives of the Portland Public Schools, donors, and parent groups to build awareness and program impact
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements and Qualifications

Who You are:

  • You have prior experience with fundraising, donor cultivation, and donor management
  • You are a strong communicator, both written and in conversation
  • You are familiar with and believe in community centric fundraising principles
  • You are organized, passionate, positive, and self-directed
  • You have a commitment to equity and dismantling oppressive systems
  • You have a strong attention to detail with excellent proofreading and copyediting skills
  • You believe in the mission and goals of FPPS and in the power of public education
  • You work effectively in collaboration with diverse individuals and groups of people
  • You are willing and able to travel to schools and locations across Portland (by car and/or public transportation)
  • Ideally, you are a graduate of the Portland Public Schools
Compensation and Benefits

Compensation and Benefits Range

$58,000-$64,000 (if full time)
