Position Description

The Aroostook Agency on Aging is seeking a dynamic part-time Philanthropy Officer to assist with our fundraising and donor engagement initiatives. This role is perfect for someone who is enthusiastic about nonprofit work and has a knack for building and maintaining relationships. As a key member of our team, you will help drive our mission forward by supporting our development efforts and fostering a strong donor community. This role will also identify new fundraising opportunities in order to support the long-term financial stability of the agency to support our mission of improving the lives of older adults in northern Maine. 

Organization Overview

The mission of the Aroostook Agency on Aging is to improve the quality of life, maximize the independence, and promote the well-being of older people in northern Maine. Our Agency is a trusted resource to help older adults age independently and achieve their fullest potential. We bring 50 years of experience to this work and offer compassion, knowledge, and unbiased recommendations to older adults, caregivers, and providers.

Position Requirements and Qualifications
  • 3 years of philanthropy, marketing/sales or equivalent experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree in philanthropy, management, communications or related field preferred, associate’s degree required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with donor management software preferred
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures for processing constituent data with a high level of accuracy 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including ability to communicate directly and effectively with others
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask and work independently and as part of a team 
  • Excellent organization skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Polished professional presence; the ability to interact with trustees and major donors as needed
  • Ability to travel within region frequently
  • A passion for older adults and a commitment to our mission
