The Community Outreach & Volunteer Manager is responsible for the ongoing success and coordination of the volunteer programs across Mainspring, Fair Tide, and Footprints. This position plays a vital role in community engagement, volunteer recruitment and retention, and increasing awareness of our collective programs. The Manager will represent the agencies at community events, recruit volunteers and service users, and support fundraising and outreach efforts.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator—both written and verbal—with strong organizational skills, a flexible mindset, and the ability to work with a diverse group of people in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. They should value the importance of a robust volunteer workforce, be confident in making decisions, and offer exceptional customer service and leadership.

Through co-location, centralized intake, and coordinated care, Mainspring connects community members to critical services while building a stronger, more resilient Seacoast.

Position Requirements and Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Fair Tide Thrift Store Manager, Footprints Market Manager, and Mainspring Leadership to align and coordinate volunteer needs and activities across all three organizations.
  • Develop and implement a streamlined volunteer process, including inquiry, application, orientation, training, and placement for Mainspring, Fair Tide, and Footprints.
  • Recruit, onboard, and train all incoming volunteers.
  • Ensure adequate volunteer coverage across programs and sites.
  • Foster volunteer retention through recognition efforts; train staff on appreciation best practices.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for current and prospective volunteers.
  • Provide direct program support when needed, including staffing Footprints Market and Mainspring’s Intake Desk.
  • Represent the organizations at community outreach events, volunteer recruitment and appreciation events, programming events, and fundraising efforts.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of partnerships with corporate and community stakeholders to expand volunteer opportunities and resources.
  • Work in close collaboration with the Development Lead on events, special projects, and organizational initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to meet multiple deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Passion for the missions of Mainspring, Fair Tide, and Footprints.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and in a dynamic, community-focused environment.
  • Self-motivated with strong administrative skills and the ability to prioritize and work independently.

Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and kneel as needed; must be able to regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds and manually unload vehicles up to 1,500 pounds.
  • Valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to our insurance provider.
  • Background check required.

Hours, Compensation & Benefits

  • 30 hours/week, hourly, non-exempt position 
  • $30/hour
