Frequently Asked Questions

Organizations can become members or renew their membership by filling out our Membership Form, which you can find here.

Individuals can become either Professional Service or Funder members, as applicable. Reach out to us at mpc@mainephilanthropy.org with any questions.

Your membership will be activated within two business days after membership dues are received.

All staff, board, and volunteers at an organization can receive access to MPC's member benefits. Each person can use their own user (email address used to login) which connects to an organization's account.

If your organization is already a member, follow the steps below to start using your membership.

Primary contacts can add more users to their organization's account. Please reach out if you need support in adding more users to your organization.

Create or login to your individual user using your work email. Your individual user should automatically connect to the organizational account if your email and organization website share the same domain. Once connected, you will receive all MPC membership benefits, including access to the online Directory of Maine Grantmakers and member rates for programs.

If you are having issues, please reach out to mpc@mainephilanthropy.org and ask us to connect your individual user to your organization.

In line with our focus on equity, we hope all organizations are able to take advantage of MPC membership, regardless of their ability to pay for membership.

MPC has a pool of funds to support organizations for whom full cost membership would be burdensome or prohibitive. Because funds are limited, we hope that those who can pay full membership will choose to do so, allowing those who need the support to access it.

Any organization that self-determines a need for additional support to be an MPC member can receive a 50% discount (nonprofits and certain professional members) or 100% discount (nonprofits only) on their membership tier. Reduced cost memberships can be selected on the membership form, and reductions are applied at checkout.

Organizations can make different selections as needed for each annual renewal process.

For more information about our reduced-cost and no-cost membership options, please see our reduced-cost membership page.

MPC offers many benefits for members, including access to the online Directory of Maine Grantmakers, free or discounted registration to MPC programs and network meetings, MPC's monthly member newsletter, monthly grant deadline calendar, free job posts, visibility on our members list, and more! Full membership benefits can be found on our Member Benefits page.

MPC members can access the online Directory of Maine Grantmakers by logging in using your work email. Let us know at mpc@mainephilanthropy.org if you are having trouble. Members can also purchase the print Directory of Maine Grantmakers at a discount.

Nonmembers can purchase the print Directory of Maine Grantmakers or make an appointment to use the online Directory at MPC's office in Portland. Additionally, attendees of our free monthly virtual grant research tutorials receive remote access to the online Directory for the rest of the day after the tutorial.
