Position Description

Mainspring seeks a highly skilled and experienced Director of Clinical Operations to oversee and manage all clinical service functions, including intake, case management, and related programmatic operations. This position will provide strategic leadership, ensure compliance with policies and funding requirements, foster a supportive, professional, and collaborative environment for staff, and support the delivery of high-quality, effective services to clients.

The Director of Clinical Operations reports to one of Mainspring’s Co-Executive Directors and will supervise four direct reports, as well as clinical interns and contractors as assigned.

Position Requirements and Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and performance management to Intake Specialists and Case Managers.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee Mainspring’s clinical intern program, including recruitment, orientation, training, and supervision.
  • Coordinate and facilitate clinical team meetings, professional development trainings, and staff wellness/self-care opportunities.
  • Collect, monitor, and analyze program data to assess outcomes and effectiveness of clinical operations; oversee full implementation of the EmpowOR client data management system and ensure proper use of HMIS for Coordinated Entry.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and professional standards; develop and implement new policies as needed.
  • Manage General Assistance contracts with Kittery, Eliot, and other municipalities.
  • Research, implement, and administer public funding sources for clinical work, including but not limited to MaineCare, ESHAP, and Continuum of Care funding streams.
  • Facilitate and oversee client case conferencing meetings.
  • Collaborate with the statewide Hub system to ensure seamless service coordination and resource access for clients.
  • Partner with Co-Executive Directors in strategic planning for clinical programs and Mainspring’s overall service delivery model.
  • Develop and manage clinical program budgets in collaboration with the Co-Executive Directors and the finance team.

Ideal Qualifications & Skills

  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or a related human services field.
  • Current professional licensure (LCSW, LCPC, or equivalent) in the State of Maine.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in social services, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Proficiency with client data management systems; experience with EmpowOR strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, manage, and evaluate programs.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to foster collaboration and accountability.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and prepare reports to support decision-making.
Compensation and Benefits

Hours, Compensation & Benefits

  • 40 hours/week, salaried, exempt position.
  • $85k - $90k/year, depending on experience.
