Position Description

The Development Director is an exciting opportunity for a candidate as Bagaduce Music is embarking on a major fundraising effort, Charting our Future, along with reinvigorating its annual fundraising to ensure financial sustainability and growth. This part-time role (approximately 20 hours per week) focuses on managing Charting our Future, donor relations and working with a Board committee, grant writing, and event-based fundraising. The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented professional, strong people skills with a passion for music, fundraising, and community-building. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Fundraising Strategy & Execution:  Implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy,Charting our Future, including annual giving, major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and grants that has been developed as a strategic effort by the Board.
  • Donor Relations & Stewardship: Cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with individual donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors. Maintain accurate donor records and gift processing in Little Green Light donor database. 
  • Grant Writing & Management: Research, write, and submit grant applications to secure funding from foundations and government sources. Manage grant reporting requirements and calendar of grant deadlines. 
  • Fundraising Events: Assist in the planning and execution of fundraising events
  • Planned Giving: Work to promote awareness of Bagduce Msuic’s legacy society.
  • Board & Leadership Collaboration: Work closely with the Executive Director and Board Development Committee to set and achieve fundraising goals. Provide updates and reports on development efforts. Work with Board Members and Executive Director to prepare for solicitation calls and cultivation of prospects, as well as stewarding of donors
  • Marketing & Communications Support: Collaborate with marketing staff to create compelling donor communications, newsletters, and social media campaigns that support fundraising initiatives.

Bagaduce Music is a nonprofit dedicated to preserving and building community music through educational programs, live performances, and an extensive music library. We connect musicians, educators, and anyone with an interest in music regardless of age or ability, to a vast repertoire of musical works and genres, fostering a thriving musical community.

Position Requirements and Qualifications
  • Experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, or related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with donor management software (e.g., Little Green Light, Salesforce, or similar).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small team environment.
  • Passion for music and the arts is a plus.
Compensation and Benefits

This is a part-time, 50% position with a $30-40K salary based on experience. Hybrid work options may be available.
