Mission
'Growing in Mission, Rooted in Worship' - St. Philip's Church sits within the Historic District of Wiscasset. It was established in 1856 with money from the sale of pews and contributions from a Ladies Sewing Society. Lincoln Co Episcopalians bought an abandoned Baptist Meetinghouse built in 1822, and St. Philip's began. In 1866 New England architect Francis H. Fassett (Bath) designed an interior/exterior make-over of the austere meetinghouse. Today, St. Philip's is raising money to make an engineering correction to support the life of Fassett's building and the Church's mission of worship and service. Besides our Sunday worship service, the building houses the Help Yourself Shelf weekly food pantry, supports the Feed our Scholars weekend food program for Wiscasset Elementary students, and the Bargain Basement, a busy thrift store that helps lower income families with quality clothing and housewares. St. Philip's is a welcoming and open Church inviting all to prayer, Holy Communion and fellowship. Our doors are open to those in need.
