This introductory ALLways session is a three hour participatory workshop that introduces artistic access fundamentals as well as frameworks to develop your own approach and methods. This session is ideal for anyone who wants to begin to implement accessible practices into their personal and organizational work.

The ALLways method, grounded in Kinetic Light's holistic research and practice and led by Laurel Lawson, uses fundamental principles of equity and hospitality to help you learn how to create equitable access for your performances, events, audiences, and organization. This approach helps you build access and equity for your staff, artist, and audience communities, grounded in disability-led research and expertise.

Specific topics in this session include:

  • Technical and cultural fundamentals for centering access in your work;
  • Accessible communications, outreach, and community-building techniques;
  • How principles of hospitality and equity can inform access;
  • Provocations for meaningful culture change.

This session is offered online and is interactive; please plan to participate via audio, text, and/or video. CART captioning will be available as well as spoken visual description. When completing the interest form, please let us know if you need ASL interpretation; we will happily secure it.
