Seeking an alternative to expensive, cumbersome, and time-limited strategic planning approaches, the Elmina B. Sewall Foundation developed a living, flexible and values-based strategic plan that assures organizational practices, structures, leadership, and culture are values-aligned and equitable. 

In this workshop, Gabriela Alcalde, Executive Director and Laura Dover, Information and Design Manager, will share about their iterative process developing and implementing the "Sewall Approach." The session is designed to provide a practical, values-based alternative to traditional strategic plans that naturally builds community and an equitable culture through its very development and implementation process.

Participants will learn emergent learning basics; shifting focus from the what to the how of organizations; engaging all stakeholders in a staff-led strategic planning process; practical ways to operationalize your organizational values.
