Reduced Cost Memberships - FAQ
In line with our focus on equity, we hope all organizations are able to take advantage of MPC membership, regardless of their ability to pay for membership. These funds are available to new and renewing members for whom full cost membership would be burdensome or prohibitive.
Members will have access to all of our member benefits including:
- Online access to the Directory of Maine Grantmakers
- Exclusive member rates to programming including a substantial discount to our biennial Maine Philanthropy Center Conference
- Free job postings
- Monthly newsletters with upcoming grant deadlines and resources, MPC and partner program info, and philanthropy news
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I access reduced cost membership?
Any organization that self-determines a need for additional support to be an MPC member can receive a 50% discount (nonprofits and certain professional members) or 100% discount (nonprofits only) on their membership tier. Reduced cost memberships can be selected on the membership form, and reductions are applied at checkout.
If you experience any issues during checkout, please reach out to us at mpc@mainephilanthropy.org.
My membership cost was reduced in a previous year. Can I still have my membership offset this year?
Yes! Reduced cost memberships are available for nonprofits and certain professional services members (see above) regardless of prior membership status or need for reduced cost memberships in previous years.
How do you define need?
We are asking organizations to self-report need. Because funds are limited, we hope that those who can pay full membership will choose to do so. This will allow those that truly need the support to access it.
In an effort to challenge the deep disparities between white-led and BIPOC-led nonprofits (Nonprofit Finance Fund) and as part of our commitment to equity, we encourage organizations who identify as Black-, Indigenous-, and People of Color-led to take advantage of our reduced cost memberships if needed.
Are reduced cost memberships available for Professional Services members as well?
Reduced cost memberships are available for Professional Services members who primarily serve nonprofits and grantseekers, as selected on the membership form under Membership Category. Consultants and professional firms are eligible for a 50% discount, which can be selected on the membership form.
