Member Spotlight: Khmer Maine
As we continue to highlight the incredible work of our members, this month we are highlighting Khmer Maine. We encourage you to explore the work of Khmer Maine by visiting their website to explore their programs, resources, and initiatives or following them on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.
Organization: Khmer Maine
Mission: Khmer Maine is a nonpartisan, grassroots organization working to improve the quality of life and the social and economic well-being of Cambodian people in Maine through cultural exchange, community building and civic engagement.
Recent Highlights: Throughout April, Khmer Maine hosted a number of events to celebrate and share Cambodian culture, music, arts, and food with our beloved Maine community. During our Khmer New Year celebration at the Cambodian temple in Buxton, we were thrilled to welcome Governor Janet Mills and Secretary of State Shenna Bellows to join the festivities. We also worked with Tae Chong, Director of Multicultural Markets and Strategies at the Maine State Chamber of Commerce, and GreenCrabs.org to give away over 1200 pounds of invasive green crabs to Cambodian families during the celebration in an effort to curb the impact they have on Maine’s ecosystems.
