Organization: Wabanaki Public Health & Wellness
Mission: Our mission is to provide community-driven, culturally centered public health and social services to all Wabanaki communities and people while honoring Wabanaki cultural knowledge, cultivating innovation, and fostering collaboration.
Recent Program: Last Thursday, August 17th, Wabanaki Public Health & Wellness collaborated to bring a meaningful concert event with Salt Bay Chamberfest (SBC). The collaboration honored women, and featured Grammy-nominated musician of Mohawk descent Dawn Avery, (SBC) Artistic Director and cellist Wilhelmina Smith, and Lauren Stevens, our Director of Culture & Education. Wabanaki music included a traditional song sung by Chief Clarissa Sabattis and music by Passamaquoddy Womens' Drum Group Cipelahq Ehpicik. This collaboration was brought through Diana Morris, the Executive Director of the Onion Foundation.
Our upcoming Wabanaki Youth & Cultural Center will be a place where all people can build connections in Downtown Bangor. Please visit wabanakiycc.org to learn more.
