Maine Democracy Collaborative
Room: York Room
A panel of both funders and grantees will discuss how foundations and philanthropic individuals can use their resources to help protect and expand American democracy. Indeed, there is an urgent need for funders to recognize the important role they must play in expanding civic engagement and access to our democratic institutions. Whatever a funder's priorities are, protecting and expanding democracy must be on the list. Without democracy, all that we care about will suffer.

Our mouths are an essential channel of human connection and provide a visible window into our overall health and wellbeing. Dental disease is preventable, yet systemic barriers limit access to care for many populations, including BIPOC communities. Oral health access is an issue of justice because the system of care is built to welcome some people and exclude others, distributing the tools to protect oral health in a way that fails to ensure equitable access.
